Mason Mount’s Positive Debut

Mount mostly operates in between the lines, in the left/right halfspace. Mount always move to find space and help his team to find the free man. From there, he can give a killer pass for other players to attack the space.

Mount provides off-the-ball runs/movement to attack the space behind. This allows his teams to create combination or directly create chances from there.

Not only operates in a more advanced position, Mount also drops deep to help his team progress the ball from deeper positions. He often drops to make a double pivot with Kobbie Mainoo and become the base of Manchester United’s midfield. He also drops to the LB zone, allowing the fullback to advances.

On the post-match interview, he stated that he likes the role that he played against Leeds.

“I really liked that role today, being able to drop in and get on the ball and start the play from a it deeper, but also having that freedom to be able to get forward and get in the box.

“Try to make runs in behind and help the press from the front. I really enjoyed that position, be able to do both sides and also try to start off the press.”
